“Ba, ba, black sheep, and all the rest of it! Here’s a poor tainted mutton for you, without the wind being in the least tempered to him!” (Edmund Yates, Black Sheep, 1868)
I am very happy to announce that The Museum of Contemporary Cuts (MoCC) in collaboration with Arts Administration @ Boston University has launched the Black Sheep Talks.
Black Sheep Talks is a series of podcast interviews embracing the notion of the black sheep. The image of the lone black sheep in a herd of white fleece is the precise visualization of the term—a deviant outside of the normative parameters of social construct. Both in and outside of the art world, ingenuity and creativity can be perceived as parallel in concept to the black sheep, orienting outside the traditional lines of thought. But often the development of this unconventional thinking is what ultimately proves success.
Black Sheep Talks is curating this perception in a novel framework with 5 minute interviews with artists, academics, and activists across the globe who self-define with the concept of the black sheep. These conceptual innovators are at the forefront of their respective fields, challenging and blurring the stereotypical notions of boundaries and success while enveloping elements of contemporary issues.
