September 28, 2016, from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm you can join Prof. Vincent Brown (Harvard), Jen Mergel (MFA and curator of Political Intent), Prof. Nicholas Mirzoeff (NYU), Susanna Schoenberg (artist and lecturer at Kunstakademie Düsseldorf) and Prof. Lanfranco Aceti (BU) in a peripatetic panel at the MFA, Boston following the performance Hope Coming On.
The panel titled Hope Coming On: Artworks, Monuments and Memorializations Beyond Authenticity and into Humanity is a wandering event that will envelop a series of considerations by these three speakers on the performance Hope Coming On, conceived and curated by Aceti, and realized in collaboration with the MFA Boston, Boston Children Chorus and Urbanity Dance as part of a series of art initiatives for THE SOCIAL, the 4th International Association for Visual Culture Biennial Conference.
Taking as starting point Hope Coming On, Brown, Mergel, Mirzoeff, Schoenberg and Aceti, will discuss contemporary themes in a free flowing fashion while traversing the space of the museum and exploring the new curated exhibitions Political Intent and Beyond Limits in the Henry and Lois Foster Gallery (Gallery 158).
This is a chance to see up close and engage with three different scholars and their perspectives on historic and contemporary times.
The event will take place on a Wednesday when the entrance to the MFA is free and open to all. You can join the group at 7:15pm at their meeting point: (Gallery 158). Hope Coming On, the performance sharing a titular name with the panel, will premier preceding the panel from 6-7pm in Gallery 251.
